Start of the tour
Start time: 9:00 am
- Your tour begins at the National Museum of Anthropology, located in the Bosque de Chapultepec, a large urban park.
- Explore the Aztec Hall of the museum to view artifacts from pre-Hispanic Mayan civilizations and learn about the mythology, ways of life, and customs of the different regions and cultures of Mexico. Admire a massive Aztec basalt calendar, a reconstruction of a Mayan tomb, and a replica of Moctezuma's feather headdress.
- Visit El Zócalo, also known as the Plaza de la Constitución. This ceremonial center of ancient Tenochtitlán continues to be the heart of modern Mexico City. Admire the art nouveau style outside the Palace of Fine Arts and then head towards the National Palace. This century-old building was built on the grounds of Moctezuma's residence.
- The site features murals by Diego Rivera that portray the history of Mexico from 1521 to 1930. See the famous works of art and then cross the plaza in the direction of the Metropolitan Cathedral. Some sections of this Gothic building date from the year 1573.
