Join this one day tour to visit three of the most important places of Mexican culture: Tlatelolco, the Basilica of Guadalupe and Teotihuacan.
Visit Mexico's rich religious heritage on a tour of the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, the 2,500-year-old archaeological site of Teotihuacan, and the Colonial Church of Santiago in Tlatelolco. Along the way, listen to engaging stories and legends from your local guide, bringing the magic of each place to life.
The adventure begins as you visit the Plaza de Las Tres Culturas, the main square of Tlatelolco, and learn about the 3 main periods of Mexican history: Pre-Columbian, Spanish Colonial, and the modern independent Mestizo nation. Stop before the Iglesia de Santiago, which was built on Aztec ruins in 1522, and learn about the last stand of the Aztecs against the conquistador Hernán Cortes.
Head to the largest sanctuary in Mexico, the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where Mexico's patron saint, Our Lady of Guadalupe, is believed to have appeared to Saint Juan Diego. Here, at the site that houses the tilma (cloak) of San Juan Diego, you can take a look at the old and new basilicas. On the way to Teotihuacan, you will be able to taste authentic Mexican flavors in an optional spirits tasting and lunch.
Then, explore the 2,500-year-old settlement of Teotihuacán, the "birthplace of the gods." Gaze at the site's mysterious origins as you stroll the 2.5-mile (4 km) avenue of the dead, marvel at the 243 steps of the Pyramid of the Sun, and see the jade and obsidian decorations on the Pyramid of the Moon. Look at the bird ornamentations on the pillars of the Palace of Quetzalpapalotl, and admire the carvings of a serpent deity at the Temple of the Feathered Serpent.
Without a doubt, a unique experience that you cannot miss!
